Computer Repairs Pronto repairs RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4070 Ti Super graphics cards at component level on our Sydney repair bench: scorched or melted 16-pin power connectors, failed GDDR6X memory, artefacting, no display, power-stage faults, short circuits and corrupted firmware. Every card is diagnosed before anything is replaced, so the quote covers the part that has actually failed.
The two cards share a name but not a GPU, and this page covers both. Sydney customers can bring a card to our workshop near Castle Hill by arrangement; cards from other states reach the same bench through our Australia-wide mail-in GPU repair.

RTX 4070 Ti and 4070 Ti Super Faults We Repair
Most faults on these cards sit in the power input, the power stages, the memory or the firmware, and each can be traced and repaired at board level. The table shows where diagnosis usually starts.
| What you notice | Where we look first | Typical repair |
|---|---|---|
| Darkened, deformed or melted 16-pin plug or socket | The card's power socket, its pins and the copper underneath | From $370 |
| Coloured blocks, lines, sparkles or flicker | GDDR6X memory chips, the memory power supply, GPU contact | From $330 (thermal) or from $530 (memory chip) |
| Fans run, screen stays black | Core and memory power rails, firmware, display outputs | From $330 (firmware) or from $430 (power stage) |
| Computer cuts out the instant it starts | A short on the 12V input or one of the card's rails | From $430 |
| Hot, loud, clocks dropping | Paste, pads, dust and fans | From $330 |
| Dead after a firmware update | The BIOS chip and its contents | From $330 |
| Not detected after a move or a knock | Parts knocked off near the slot, PCIe contacts, board cracks | From $370 |
These are where the trail usually starts, not a diagnosis. Nothing is quoted until the card has been tested.
RTX 4070 Ti vs 4070 Ti Super: What Differs on the Board
The 4070 Ti Super is not a re-badged 4070 Ti: it uses a larger GPU, a wider memory bus and two more memory chips, so parts, firmware and test results are specific to each card. They share a 285W power rating, and every one of them is a partner-built card.
| RTX 4070 Ti | RTX 4070 Ti Super | |
|---|---|---|
| On sale | 5 January 2023 | 24 January 2024 |
| GPU | AD104 (AD104-400), 295mm² | AD103 (AD103-275), 379mm²; AD102 on some later cards |
| CUDA cores | 7,680 (60 SMs) | 8,448 (66 SMs) |
| ROPs / L2 cache | 80 / 48MB | 96 / 48MB |
| Memory | 12GB GDDR6X, six 2GB chips | 16GB GDDR6X, eight 2GB chips |
| Memory bus | 192-bit, 504GB/s | 256-bit, 672GB/s |
| Memory speed | 21Gbps | 21Gbps |
| Rated power / NVIDIA's required system power | 285W / 700W | 285W / 700W |
| Power socket on the card | One 16-pin (12VHPWR on the cards reviewed) | One 16-pin (12VHPWR or 12V-2x6, by maker) |
| Founders Edition | None | None |
| US launch price | US$799 | US$799 |
What that changes on the bench:
- Firmware is not interchangeable. It is matched to the brand, model and board revision, not just the GPU name.
- Memory testing follows the layout. Six memory channels on a 4070 Ti, eight on a Super, so errors are mapped to the right chip.
- Power advice is the same. Same 285W rating, same 16-pin input, same 700W recommendation.
- The GPUs cannot be swapped. AD104, AD103 and AD102 are different chips, and on either card a failed GPU is rarely worth replacing.
From "RTX 4080 12GB" to 4070 Ti Super: The Model History
The RTX 4070 Ti was announced in September 2022 as the "RTX 4080 12GB", withdrawn by NVIDIA that October, and released under its new name in January 2023; the Ti Super followed a year later. The dates tell you how old a card can be, and so whether it may still be under warranty.
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| 20 September 2022 | NVIDIA announces the RTX 40 series, including an "RTX 4080 12GB" on AD104 at US$899 |
| 14 October 2022 | NVIDIA "unlaunches" it, saying the card was "not named right" |
| 3 January 2023 | The same card is reintroduced at CES as the RTX 4070 Ti, US$100 cheaper |
| 5 January 2023 | RTX 4070 Ti on sale at US$799, partner cards only |
| 24 January 2024 | RTX 4070 Ti Super on sale at US$799; NVIDIA said it intended to phase out the 4070 Ti |
| July 2024 | AD102-based 4070 Ti Super cards in shops, reported by Tom's Hardware |
The 12GB 4080 never went on sale. TechSpot and Tom's Hardware both noted that the 4070 Ti kept its core specifications; only the name and price changed.
Is Your 4070 Ti or Ti Super Still Under Warranty?
Check before paying for any repair: the 4070 Ti Super only went on sale in January 2024, so many are still inside their maker's warranty, and even an older 4070 Ti may still be covered by the consumer guarantees in the Australian Consumer Law.
- 4070 Ti Super: on sale from 24 January 2024, so none is more than about two years and nine months old. Warranty periods differ by brand and region; compare your maker's terms with the date on your invoice.
- 4070 Ti: on sale from January 2023. Many are now outside the maker's warranty, but your invoice date and the brand's terms decide it.
- Consumer guarantees: the ACCC says the guarantee of acceptable quality usually still applies after a warranty expires. Those rights sit with the retailer that sold you the card.
- Bought second hand: ask the seller for the original invoice; a claim is much harder without proof of purchase.
If the card is covered, go to the retailer before anyone works on it. If the claim is refused, we can diagnose it.
No Founders Edition: Every Card Is a Partner Design
NVIDIA made no Founders Edition of either card, so every 4070 Ti and Ti Super was designed by a board partner, and the boards differ in ways that change how a repair is done. NVIDIA did design a reference circuit board, and Igor's Lab reported Leadtek's WinFast Hurricane 4070 Ti using it under Leadtek's own cooler.
Makers include ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, Zotac, Palit, Gainward, Inno3D, PNY, Galax, Leadtek and Colorful. Reviewers who took cards apart reported details like these:
| Card | Board details reported | Reported by |
|---|---|---|
| Palit 4070 Ti GameRock OC | Very small circuit board; 12 GPU phases, 2 memory phases; dual BIOS | KitGuru |
| Inno3D 4070 Ti iChill X3 | 11 GPU phases, 2 memory phases; no dual BIOS | KitGuru |
| MSI 4070 Ti Suprim X | Six true GPU phases driving 12 control loops, 3 memory phases, 55A power stages; dual BIOS differing only in fan curve; power limit adjustable to 365W | Igor's Lab |
| Gigabyte 4070 Ti Gaming OC | Dual BIOS differing only in fan curve; 336mm long, just over 1.5kg; support bracket included | KitGuru |
| MSI 4070 Ti Super Ventus 3X | 9 GPU phases, 2 memory phases; single BIOS | Igor's Lab |
| Galax 4070 Ti Super EX Gamer | Micron GDDR6X rated at 21Gbps; 12V-2x6 power socket | Hardware Busters |
| Zotac 4070 Ti Super Solid OC, Gigabyte 4070 Ti Super WindForce Max OC | Built on AD102 rather than AD103 | Tom's Hardware |
For your repair, that means:
- Power stages, controllers and capacitors are matched to the exact board, never assumed from another maker's card.
- Pad thicknesses vary by model, so they are measured during the rebuild.
- Where there is a BIOS switch, it is the first thing to try after a failed update.
- Big triple-fan coolers load the PCIe slot. Use the support bracket if your card came with one.
The 16-Pin Power Connector on 4070 Ti Cards
Both cards take all their external power through one 16-pin socket, and a scorched or melted socket can usually be replaced from $370, as long as the heat has not burnt into the board beneath.
- NVIDIA's specification: a PCIe Gen 5 cable rated for 300W or more, or the adapter in the box, which takes two 8-pin plugs.
- 4070 Ti: the cards reviewed by KitGuru and Igor's Lab use the original 12VHPWR socket.
- 4070 Ti Super: some cards use the revised 12V-2x6 socket, others still use 12VHPWR; Tom's Hardware reported in February 2024 that some partners were still fitting the older one.
- 12V-2x6 is PCI-SIG's revision with shorter sense pins, which Tom's Hardware reported as backward compatible with 12VHPWR.
- Adapters differ: Palit's GameRock and Gigabyte's Gaming OC came with two-8-pin adapters; Zotac's 4070 Ti, Inno3D's iChill X3 and MSI's Suprim X with three-8-pin versions. KitGuru found the Inno3D performed the same on two plugs as on three.
The widely reported melting cases centred on the RTX 4090; in November 2022, when it knew of about 50 cases, NVIDIA said a common issue was connectors not being fully plugged in. A 4070 Ti draws far less power, but a plug that is not fully home, or a damaged pin, can still overheat at the socket.
- The socket and the board around it are inspected under magnification, and the 12V input is measured for a short.
- The damaged socket is removed, the pads and copper beneath are checked, and a new socket of the correct type is fitted.
- The power stages fed from that input are tested.
- The card runs at full power while the socket is checked with a thermal camera.
Replace the cable or adapter that was in use. A heat-damaged plug can ruin a new socket. If heat has burnt into the board's layers, you are told before any work starts, because the repair may not be economical.
RTX 4070 Ti GDDR6X Memory: Six Chips, or Eight on the Super
A 4070 Ti carries six 2GB GDDR6X chips and a 4070 Ti Super eight, all around the GPU on the front of the board, and a failed chip can be replaced on its own from $530, subject to the correct chip being available.
- Layout: each chip has its own 32-bit slice of the bus; six make the 4070 Ti's 192 bits, eight the Super's 256.
- Diagnosis: no two chips share a slice, so a memory error points to one chip. Cards that pair front and rear chips, such as the RTX 3090, need an extra step.
- The chips: teardowns such as Hardware Busters' Galax 4070 Ti Super show Micron 2GB GDDR6X rated at 21Gbps, the speed both cards run at.
- Cooling: the memory sits under the main cooler, so hot memory often points to pads that have shifted, compressed or been refitted at the wrong thickness.
- The memory is tested, warm where the fault only shows with heat, and errors traced to a chip.
- The memory supply is checked first. Igor's Lab counted two or three memory phases on the boards it examined, and a weak memory rail can look exactly like a failing chip.
- The chip is lifted with controlled heat and the board's pads cleaned and inspected.
- A new chip of the correct part is fitted. If it has to be ordered, the quote says so.
- All six or eight chips are retested, pads and paste renewed, and the card load-tested.
RTX 4070 Ti Artefacting
Artefacts on a 4070 Ti or Ti Super usually trace back to a memory chip or the memory's power supply, but drivers and heat are ruled out first. When they appear is the best clue.
| When it happens | What it usually points to |
|---|---|
| From the very first screen, before Windows starts | Hardware on the card itself |
| Only once the card is warm | A chip or joint that fails with heat, or memory running hot |
| Only in one game, or after a driver change | Software; try a clean driver install |
| Also with a different card in the same computer | Not the graphics card |
Our GPU artefacting guide covers the checks worth doing at home first.
RTX 4070 Ti No Display
A 4070 Ti or Ti Super that spins its fans but shows nothing usually has a power rail that is not coming up, corrupted firmware or a fault on the output side, and most of these are repairable. Try these first:
- Push the 16-pin plug fully home and check every 8-pin plug on the adapter is connected.
- Try another output and another cable.
- If the card has a BIOS switch, power off, move it and try again. On the Gigabyte Gaming OC and MSI Suprim X, reviewers found the two positions differ only in fan behaviour, so nothing is lost.
- Check whether the motherboard or Windows sees the card. If it does, firmware, memory or the outputs are likely; if not, a rail that is not starting or damage at the PCIe contacts.
RTX 4070 Ti Power Stages and Short Circuits
A failed power stage on a 4070 Ti or Ti Super can be replaced from $430 with a part that matches that maker's design, because phase counts and components vary widely between boards. Power stages step the 12V input down to the voltages the GPU and memory run on, and a failed one often fails short.
- Different parts on different cards: Igor's Lab found 55A Alpha and Omega stages on MSI's 4070 Ti Suprim X, with its power controllers on the back of the board; KitGuru counted 11 GPU phases on Inno3D's iChill X3 and 12 on Palit's GameRock.
- Finding a short: with the card unpowered, each rail's resistance to ground is measured; a small, current-limited supply is then fed into the shorted rail and a thermal camera shows the part that warms.
- Short on the 12V input: the power supply trips the moment the computer is switched on.
- Short on a core or memory supply: fans may spin with a black screen, or the card is not detected.
- The whole rail is checked: neighbouring stages, the controller and nearby capacitors, then the rail is brought up current-limited before full power and a sustained load.
If you suspect a short, stop powering the card. Each attempt can turn one failed part into several.
4070 Ti Crashes and Shutdowns Under Load
When a 4070 Ti crashes, or the whole computer switches off under load, the power supply and cabling are as likely a cause as the card, so check them first.
- Power supply: NVIDIA lists 700W as the required system power for both cards.
- Adapter wiring: run each 8-pin plug from its own cable, not both from one cable with two plugs.
- Overclocked cards: some draw more than 285W; Igor's Lab found MSI's Suprim X could be raised to 365W.
- Heat: watch GPU hot spot and memory temperatures in a tool such as HWiNFO.
If the card passes every bench test, you pay the $150 diagnostic and get the results.
4070 Ti Super Cards With an AD102 GPU
From mid-2024 some 4070 Ti Super cards were built on AD102, the RTX 4090's chip, cut down to the same 8,448 cores and 256-bit bus, so a Ti Super can carry either of two GPUs.
- Which cards: Tom's Hardware reported Zotac's Solid OC and Gigabyte's WindForce Max OC with AD102 in July 2024, and later showed the Zotac's die marked AD102-175. Guru3D reported an AD102 "V2" from Colorful.
- Performance: Tom's Hardware said it should bring no advantage, as only part of the chip is enabled, including four of its six memory controllers.
- For repair: the GPU, the parts around it and the firmware differ. Tom's Hardware pointed to a different capacitor layout behind the GPU and wider-spaced cooler screws.
- How to tell: GPU-Z shows the GPU name, or give us the model name from the label and we check before quoting.
How We Diagnose a 4070 Ti or Ti Super
Diagnosis starts by identifying the exact card and GPU, then works from harmless checks to invasive ones, so the fault is never made worse while it is being found.
- Identify the card: brand, model, board revision and GPU (AD104, AD103 or AD102).
- Inspect both sides under magnification, especially the 16-pin socket and power stages.
- Cold checks: the 12V input and every rail measured to ground, unpowered.
- Current-limited power-up, so a fault cannot draw enough to cause more damage.
- Rails, firmware and memory: each supply checked in start-up order, the BIOS chip read, and all six or eight memory chips tested.
- Quote: what failed, a fixed price and our view on whether it is worth doing. Nothing proceeds without your approval.
- Repair and test: component work, pads measured for that model, fresh paste, sustained load with temperatures logged.
Can a 4070 Ti Be Repaired?
Usually, yes: sockets, power stages, memory chips, small components and firmware can all be replaced, but a failed GPU core or a board burnt through its layers is rarely worth repairing.
- Scorched or melted 16-pin sockets, where the board beneath is sound
- Failed GDDR6X memory chips and power stages
- Shorted or cracked capacitors and other small parts
- Damaged display outputs and PCIe contacts
- Corrupted or mismatched firmware
Usually not economical: a failed or cracked GPU core (a replacement would have to come from another card), heat damage through the board's layers, several memory chips plus a power fault, or pads torn by an earlier repair. You are told after the diagnostic, and pay only the $150 and any return postage.
Is a 4070 Ti Worth Repairing? The Honest Numbers
For a single fault, usually yes, but a 4070 Ti sits mid-market, so a memory chip or a reball takes a real share of its value, and two major faults can cost more than a working used card. Compare your quote with recently sold listings for the same card, not asking prices.
| Repair | Starting price | How it usually stacks up |
|---|---|---|
| Thermal service or firmware | From $330 | Usually worth doing |
| 16-pin socket | From $370 | Usually worth doing if the board underneath is sound |
| Power stage | From $430 | Usually worth doing |
| One memory chip | From $530 | Check against sold prices for your exact card first |
| Reflow or reball | From $630, quoted per card | Often close to a 4070 Ti's value |
| Two or more major faults | Quoted after diagnosis | Often more than the card is worth |
As an illustration: if working 4070 Ti cards are selling for around $800 near you, a socket repair from $370 or a power stage from $430 leaves a clear margin, a memory chip from $530 uses up most of it, and a reball from $630, or a memory fault plus a power fault, would usually cost more than the card is worth. Judge a Ti Super on its own sold prices.
- The parts we replace carry 12 months of warranty for the same fault; a used card comes with an unknown history.
- If the card may still be covered, go to the retailer first (see Still under warranty?).
- If the numbers do not stack up, we say so after diagnosis.
RTX 4070 Ti Repair Cost
RTX 4070 Ti and 4070 Ti Super repairs start from $330, and your final price is fixed in a quote after diagnosis, before any work starts. The same prices apply to both cards, including AD102-based Supers.
| Work | Price |
|---|---|
| Bench diagnostic | $150, waived if you go ahead with the repair |
| Thermal service, paste and pads | From $330 |
| Firmware and BIOS recovery | From $330 |
| 16-pin socket, port and trace repair | From $370 |
| Power-stage repair | From $430 |
| GDDR6X memory chip (subject to the correct chip being available) | From $530 |
| Reflow or reball | From $630, quoted per card |
Call 02 8428 9224 with the card's brand, model and fault for a starting price. If the card cannot be repaired, you pay the $150 diagnostic and any return postage, nothing else. Interstate customers also pay postage both ways.
RTX 4070 Ti Repair Turnaround
Bench time for a 4070 Ti or Ti Super runs from one business day for firmware work to ten for physical damage.
| Repair type | Usual bench time |
|---|---|
| Thermal service, firmware recovery | 1–2 business days |
| Power-stage and memory repairs | 3–7 business days |
| Reball and physical damage, including heat-damaged sockets | 5–10 business days |
| Faults that show up only with heat | Longer: the fault has to be reproduced first |
A job waiting on a part depends on supply, and you are told before you approve the quote. Posted cards also spend time in transit; the mail-in graphics card repair page has Australia Post estimates by state.
What Happens After the Repair?
A repaired 4070 Ti or Ti Super runs a sustained load test before it goes back, and you are told what was replaced and why. Testing confirms normal detection at full PCIe link width and speed, every display output, stable running with GPU, hot spot and memory temperatures logged, and on connector repairs, a cool socket at full power.
Once the invoice is settled, the card is ready: collect it by arrangement, or have it posted on your prepaid label or with return postage added to the invoice at cost.
Warranty: the parts we replace carry 12 months of warranty for the same fault. Should a part we fitted fail within that year and bring the same fault back, return the card and that part is covered.
Typical RTX 4070 Ti Repair Scenarios
These are typical ways 4070 Ti and 4070 Ti Super faults show up, what diagnosis tends to find and what the repair involves. They describe fault patterns, not your card: each card is diagnosed and quoted on what is found.
Burnt smell and a darkened 16-pin plug
- What you see
- A burning smell during a long session, then a black screen. The plug and the socket on the card are discoloured or slightly deformed.
- What diagnosis usually finds
- Heat damage at the socket from a poor contact, often a plug not fully home or a damaged pin. The 12V input is checked for a short and the copper under the socket inspected.
- The repair
- A new socket of the correct type, 12VHPWR or 12V-2x6, is fitted and nearby power stages tested. The owner replaces the cable or adapter.
- Price and bench time
- From $370; usually five to ten business days, depending on how far the heat damage reaches
- Before it goes back
- A long run at full power with the socket checked on a thermal camera.
Artefacts that start once the card is warm
- What you see
- A clean picture at first, then sparkles or coloured blocks after a while in a game, sometimes followed by a driver crash.
- What diagnosis usually finds
- Memory testing at temperature shows errors on one slice of the bus, which on these cards points to a single chip. The memory power rail tests normal.
- The repair
- The failing chip is replaced with the correct part, then every chip is retested and the pads renewed.
- Price and bench time
- From $530, subject to the correct chip being available; usually three to seven business days
- Before it goes back
- Repeated warm-up cycles, a full memory test and a long load run.
Artefacts from the very first screen, every time
- What you see
- Corrupted colours or lines on the start-up screen, before Windows loads, on every start.
- What diagnosis usually finds
- Errors across several chips at once, which points away from one chip and towards the memory power supply, such as a failed memory power stage or capacitor.
- The repair
- The failed power part is replaced and the rail checked under load. If a chip still shows errors, it is quoted separately first.
- Price and bench time
- From $430; three to seven business days in most cases
- Before it goes back
- A full memory test and a sustained load run.
The computer cuts out the instant it is switched on
- What you see
- With the card fitted, the power supply clicks off straight away. Without it, the computer starts normally.
- What diagnosis usually finds
- A short on the 12V input or the core rail, traced to a failed power stage or input capacitor.
- The repair
- The failed part is replaced to match that maker's design, the rest of the rail tested, and the card brought up current-limited.
- Price and bench time
- From $430, usually three to seven business days
- Before it goes back
- Sustained load at the normal power limit with the repaired rail monitored.
Fans spin but no picture after a firmware update
- What you see
- After a BIOS update, or flashing firmware from another model, the fans run but nothing reaches the screen.
- What diagnosis usually finds
- Healthy hardware with corrupted or mismatched firmware. On cards with a switch, the second position is tried first.
- The repair
- The BIOS chip is reprogrammed on the board with the correct firmware for that brand, model and revision.
- Price and bench time
- From $330; one to two business days in most cases
- Before it goes back
- Every output tested and the card's identity and clocks confirmed.
Hot and loud, with clocks dropping in long sessions
- What you see
- Louder fans than before, a hot spot temperature that climbs fast, and frame rates that sag after a while.
- What diagnosis usually finds
- Dried paste, compressed or shifted pads, dust in the fins, sometimes a worn fan bearing.
- The repair
- A full strip and clean, fresh paste, pads measured for that model, and fan checks.
- Price and bench time
- From $330, usually one to two business days
- Before it goes back
- GPU, hot spot and memory temperatures logged through a long load.
Shutdowns in games, but the card tests fine
- What you see
- The whole computer switches off in demanding games, not just the game crashing.
- What diagnosis usually finds
- The card holds every rail, passes memory testing and runs a long load without fault. The power supply or the adapter wiring is the likely cause.
- The repair
- No repair is carried out on the card.
- Price and bench time
- The $150 diagnostic and any return postage
- Before it goes back
- You get the results and what to check next, starting with the power supply against NVIDIA's 700W figure.
A 4070 Ti Super with a fault, still inside its warranty
- What you see
- A Ti Super still within its maker's warranty period starts artefacting or will not display.
- What diagnosis usually finds
- Nothing yet: the first check is the purchase date and the brand's warranty terms, before the card is opened.
- The repair
- We send you to the retailer first; your consumer guarantee rights sit with them.
- Price and bench time
- No charge for the advice. If the claim is refused, the usual $150 diagnostic applies, waived if you go ahead.
- Before it goes back
- If it does come in, it gets the same tests as any other repair.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can an RTX 4070 Ti be repaired?
Yes, in most cases. Melted 16-pin sockets, failed GDDR6X memory, power stages, small components, display outputs and firmware can all be repaired at component level. A failed GPU core, or heat damage burnt through the board, is rarely worth repairing. The $150 diagnostic, waived if you go ahead, tells you which applies.
Do you repair the RTX 4070 Ti Super?
Yes. The Ti Super uses AD103, or AD102 on some later cards, with 16GB on a 256-bit bus, against the 4070 Ti's AD104 with 12GB on 192-bit. Firmware, memory testing and parts are matched to your card. Prices are the same for both.
How much does an RTX 4070 Ti repair cost?
From $330 for a thermal service or firmware, $370 for a 16-pin socket, port or trace repair, $430 for a power stage, $530 for a memory chip (subject to the correct chip being available) and $630 for a reflow or reball. What warranty comes with an RTX 4070 Ti repair?
Any part we replace is covered for 12 months against the same fault. If that part fails within the year and the fault comes back, it is covered. A different fault is a new job, diagnosed and quoted first.
My 4070 Ti Super is still under warranty. Should I send it to you?
Go to the retailer first. The Ti Super went on sale in January 2024, so many cards are still inside their maker's warranty, and the ACCC says consumer guarantee rights can outlast a warranty. Those rights sit with the retailer. If the claim is refused, we can diagnose the card.
Is there a Founders Edition RTX 4070 Ti or 4070 Ti Super?
No. NVIDIA made no Founders Edition of either, so every card was built by a partner such as ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, Zotac, Palit, Inno3D, PNY or Galax. Phase counts, power stages, BIOS switches and pad thicknesses differ, so parts are matched to your exact model.
Can a melted 16-pin connector on a 4070 Ti be fixed?
Usually. The socket is removed, the copper beneath checked, and a new 12VHPWR or 12V-2x6 socket fitted from $370, with nearby power stages tested. If heat has burnt into the board's layers, you are told before any work. Replace the cable or adapter that was in use.
Is it worth fixing a 4070 Ti with a failed memory chip?
Sometimes. A memory chip starts from $530, a large share of a 4070 Ti's second-hand value, so compare the quote with recently sold prices for your exact card. One chip alone can make sense; a memory fault plus a power fault often costs more than the card is worth, and we will say so.
Why does my RTX 4070 Ti have no display?
Usually a power rail that is not coming up, corrupted firmware or a fault on the output side. Check the 16-pin plug is fully home and every adapter plug connected, try another output, and try the other BIOS position if your card has a switch.
Was the RTX 4070 Ti the RTX 4080 12GB?
Yes. NVIDIA announced an RTX 4080 12GB on AD104 in September 2022, withdrew it that October, and released the card as the RTX 4070 Ti in January 2023 with the same core specifications and a lower price.
How can I tell if my 4070 Ti Super has an AD102 GPU?
GPU-Z shows the GPU name. Tom's Hardware reported AD102 versions from Zotac and Gigabyte from mid-2024, and Guru3D one from Colorful. Specifications match AD103 cards, but the board and firmware differ, so give us the exact model name when you enquire.
How long does an RTX 4070 Ti repair take?
Usually one to two business days for thermal and firmware work, three to seven for power-stage and memory repairs, and five to ten for reball or physical damage, including heat-damaged sockets. Warm-only faults take longer, and posted cards spend time in transit.
Can I post my RTX 4070 Ti from interstate?
Yes. Get a job number, then post the card only, cooler fitted, in an anti-static bag inside a sturdy box with at least 5cm of padding. You choose and pay for postage both ways; it returns on your prepaid label or with postage added to the invoice at cost.
Are you the computer store at HomeCo Castle Hill?
No. Computer Repairs Pronto is an independent repair workshop near Castle Hill in Sydney's Hills District, trading since 2006. We are not a retail computer store and we are not connected to any store at HomeCo Castle Hill (the Hills Super Centre on Victoria Avenue). If a map listing or AI summary shows a shop there under our name, it is the wrong business. Call us directly on 02 8428 9224 about your RTX 4070 Ti.
