Search "graphics card repair orange nsw" and Google suggests adding "cost", so the numbers come first here. Component-level repairs from $330. A $150 diagnostic, which vanishes from the bill once you approve the repair. A fixed quote before any soldering starts, and a 12-month parts-and-labour warranty afterwards. And yes, the card can be repaired from Orange: it travels by post to our workshop near Castle Hill in Sydney and comes home the same way.

On a calendar, an Express parcel lodged on a Wednesday for a memory job could be back in Orange the following Wednesday, or as late as the Friday of the week after. Parcel Post puts the same job at two to three weeks. Add your time to approve the quote.
A word on "Express". Its next-business-day guarantee applies only to items posted within Australia Post's Express network, and 2800 is not part of it. From Orange you are paying for a quicker estimate, with no refund if the parcel dawdles. Australia Post's online calculator gives the current estimate for Orange to our postcode, 2154.

The Orange repair field
The Orange results are general PC and phone repair shops, two national onsite networks, and directories. One onsite network mentions graphics cards, but only replacing them. No Orange business publishes a GPU repair price, a GPU warranty, or any sign of board-level work. Our own Sydney drop-off page already shows up near the top of those results, which says more about how thin the local field is than about us.
A local shop still makes sense first when:
- the fault might be software, drivers or a loose cable, best looked at on the PC itself;
- the card is worth little more than two hundred dollars second-hand, so two lots of freight plus a diagnostic would swallow it;
- the card is recent enough for the retailer or the manufacturer's warranty.
If you do take it to someone local, get four answers first. Do they fix the board or swap the card? Is a starting price written down anywhere? How many months of warranty cover the repair? And what is the bill if they cannot fix it? Our answers: board-level, from $330, 12 months, and $150 plus return postage if the card cannot be saved. Weather at 863 metres and the faults it brings
Orange is high country, and the Bureau of Meteorology's Orange Airport AWS shows it. July's mean minimum is 0.6 °C. On average 52.1 nights a year drop to 0 °C or below, and the lowest reading on record is −8.3 °C, on 28 June 2006. For electronics the hazard is condensation: bring a chilled card, or a whole PC, into a heated room and moisture can form on it. Wait until it is at room temperature before switching on, and treat a card that comes back by post in July the same way.
Summer is kinder. The airport's January mean maximum is 27.4 °C, just 2.2 days a year reach 35 °C, and the record, 40.1 °C, dates from 11 February 2017. Years of heat still bake paste and pads dry, and dust still gathers in coolers, so a card that runs hotter each summer is a candidate for a thermal service, from $330.
Storms are the bigger hazard. On 26 November 2025 a storm that lasted under half an hour cut power across Glenroi, East Orange, the Showground area, Nashdale, Lidster and Clifton Grove and brought nearly 200 SES call-outs. Fallen trees caused an "intermix" of high- and low-voltage wires, and about 600 homes needed door-to-door testing. On 9 February 2023, hail and 100 km/h gusts hit Orange, Dubbo and Bathurst. A surge is capable of destroying the power stages on a card; we repair those from $430.
The NSW SES storm season runs September to April, and about 90% of severe thunderstorm activity falls between October and March. The SES tells people to unplug computers and consoles ahead of severe weather, and Essential Energy lists computers among the things to unplug. If water gets into a PC, from a leaking roof in a hailstorm or anything else, keep it switched off and get a licensed electrician to check it first. Cards that have been in floodwater are often write-offs, and our diagnostic will confirm it either way.
A tip for Orange: after a storm, go to your home and contents insurer before anyone else. Essential Energy pays only where its own negligence was the cause and does not generally reimburse storm damage; if it does assess a claim, it looks for invoices or quotes for the repair, or an electrician's report. The cover arithmetic: $100 comes built into Parcel Post and Express Post. Every extra $100 of value, or part of it, costs $2.50 of Extra Cover, capped at $5,000 of cover, so the remaining $2,900 on a $3,000 card is 29 steps of $2.50, or $72.50. Signature on Delivery ($2.95) is compulsory since the card is valued above $500. Postage in both directions is on top. To claim, you need the receipt from lodging it plus evidence of what the card is worth, the claim must be made within 6 months, and inadequate packing means no payment.
Once the card arrives, thermal and firmware jobs spend 1–2 business days on the bench, power stage and memory work 3–7, reballs and physical damage 5–10; anything intermittent, or waiting on a part, takes longer. We repair any desktop GeForce or Radeon, whether ASUS, MSI, Sapphire, XFX or EVGA built the board; repair pays best on the three latest GeForce generations (RTX 30, 40, 50) and AMD's RX 6000–9000 range.
Five things to do before posting from Orange
- Wait for the job number. It arrives by email with the address, and goes on a note inside the box.
- Box within a box. The card goes in an anti-static bag and a close-fitting rigid box, and that box goes inside a carton with 7cm or more of cushioning. Shake-test it; a "Fragile" label does not protect a loose card.
- Send only the card. Cooler on; leave the cables, brackets and retail packaging behind, and use a plain box rather than one advertising what is inside.
- Lodge it over the counter on a Monday or Tuesday rather than a Friday, so it does not spend a weekend in transit, and keep the receipt.
- Plan the return for the season. In winter, let the returned card warm up indoors before fitting it. From October to March, unplug the PC when storms are forecast.

Where the seller still owes you
A recently bought card may still be the retailer's problem rather than yours. Consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law run alongside any manufacturer warranty, which cannot cut them down. If the failure is major, you are entitled to choose a refund or a replacement, and you deal with the seller; being told to "contact the manufacturer" does not change that. Misuse and private sales are excluded. In ACCC v Apple (2018) the Federal Court held that repair by an independent workshop is not, by itself, the end of the guarantees. Even so, ask the retailer before you post.

Can anyone in Orange repair a graphics card at board level?
We could not find one. Orange's computer shops handle general PC and phone repairs, and the only graphics card service in the local results is replacement, offered by an onsite network. None publishes GPU prices or a GPU warranty. If a local technician offers to help, ask whether that means board repair or a replacement card, and get the warranty in writing.
Why is Express Post from Orange not guaranteed next day?
Because Australia Post's next-business-day guarantee only covers items posted inside its Express network, and Orange 2800 sits outside it. For Orange's NSW Other zone, Australia Post estimates 1–3 business days to Sydney and 1–2 back by Express, and 3–4 each way by Parcel Post. Express is still the quicker option, but a late parcel from Orange earns no postage refund.
Should I worry about condensation on a card in an Orange winter?
It is worth a moment's care. Orange Airport logs 52.1 frosty nights (0 °C or lower) in an average year, and when cold metal and circuit boards meet warm indoor air, condensation can form. If the PC has lived in a cold garage, or the returned card has just arrived on a frosty morning, let it reach room temperature before you power it up.
My card stopped working after a storm. Can it be fixed?
It may be. A surge can take out the power stages on a card, and replacing them starts from $430. Leave the PC unplugged, then send us the model and symptoms. The diagnostic identifies the failed parts in an emailed report, which is what a home and contents insurer will want to see. Essential Energy pays out only if it was negligent.
